Arsenic contamination refers to environmental pollution caused by arsenic or its compounds. The mining and smelting of arsenic and arsenic-containing metals, the production of glass, pigments, raw materials, paper, and coal combustion using arsenic or arsenic compounds as raw materials can produce arsenic-containing wastewater, waste gas and waste slag, causing environmental pollution. In addition to natural causes such as rock weathering and volcanic eruptions, atmospheric arsenic pollution mainly comes from industrial production and the use of arsenic-containing pesticides and coal combustion. Arsenic-containing wastewater, pesticides and soot can contaminate the soil. Arsenic accumulates in the soil and thus enters the crop tissue.
