Polyimide is one of the best organic polymer materials with high comprehensive performance. It has a high temperature resistance of over 400 °C, a long-term use temperature range of -200~300 °C, some no obvious melting point, high insulation performance, and a dielectric constant of 103 Hz. The dielectric loss is only 0.004~0.007, which belongs to F to H.

According to the chemical structure of the repeating unit, the polyimide can be classified into three types: aliphatic, semi-aromatic, and aromatic polyimide. According to the interaction force between chains, it can be divided into cross-linked type and non-cross-linked type.

Polyimide refers to a class of polymers containing an imide ring (-CO-NH-CO-) in the main chain, of which a polymer containing a phthalimide structure is most important. As a special engineering material, polyimide has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, microelectronics, nano, liquid crystal, separation membrane, laser and other fields. In the 1960s, countries were including the research, development and utilization of polyimides as one of the most promising engineering plastics of the 21st century. Polyimide, due to its outstanding performance and synthesis characteristics, whether as a structural material or as a functional material, its huge application prospects have been fully recognized, known as "the problem-solving expert" ( Protion solver), and believes that "no polyimide will not have today's microelectronics technology."
