Tolyltriazole is a high-purity product, usually appearing as a white or off-white, finely crystalline powder. Although it appears as a solid, it is partially soluble in water and more readily soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and benzene.

Tolyltriazole can be used in water treatment and cooling circulation systems as a core component of corrosion inhibitors, added to the formula to specifically protect copper, brass and other alloy equipment in the system. It is a key additive for long-lasting coolants, preventing radiators and solder joints from being corroded. It can also be used as a multifunctional additive, providing rust prevention and metal passivation functions.
