Light yellow or yellowish brown aid powder. The density of 7.13 g/cm3. Melting point is 2397 ℃. Insoluble in water and alkali, slightly soluble in acids. At the temperature of 2000℃ and the pressure of 15Mpa, cerium oxide can be obtained by hydrogen reduction. When the temperature is free at 2000℃ and the pressure is free at 5Mpa, cerium oxide shows a yellowish reddish color, and pink.
Pure product is white heavy powder or cubic crystal, not pure product is light yellow or even pink to reddish-brown (because contain trace lanthanum, praseodymium, etc.). Almost insoluble in water and acids. Relative density 7.3. Melting point 1950℃, boiling point 3500℃. Toxic, median lethal dose (rat, oral) about 1g/kg.
